Parallel-in-time simulation of biofluids

We extend Parareal, a parallel-in-time method that alternates between serial sweep and parallel sweep, to simulate the fluid flow around bio-inspired, dynamic structures over period of time. Our main contributions include demonstrating applicability Parareal simulation biofluids developing novel solvers for sweeps Parareal. propose construct non-intrusive by extrapolating parametrized family existing solvers. Compared solvers, they either allow use larger time steps, have higher order accuracy in time, or both. They are also straightforward implement parallelize. Numerical results show when number biological is small computer cores employed sufficiently large, proposed variant can achieve significantly speedup than more commonly used spatial parallelization.
